This one of the 27 Konik horses (wild horses) I try to visit almost daily during my dogwalk.
I am lucky enough to have a nature reserve across the street called Utrechtse Heuvelrug, which can be entered by opening this gate.
From there on you wil find yourself walking amongst wild horses, galoway cows, the river rhine with all it’s wildlife as beavers, egrets, kingfishers cormorants osphreys etc
Most of my sunsets are taken there aswell since it is right along the river Rhine, and I can see the change of light directly from my livingroom 🙂
Hopefully in the near future I can post some pictures of nr 28 29 or 30 since I saw some big big belly’s amongst them during my last walk 😉
Heel mooi!

The personality of this beauty shows!
Wild horses? Are they fed by humans at all?
That nature preserve sounds wonderful! How does your domestic dog get along with all the wildlife (and vice versa)?

Hi Lb,
Yes, they are wild , but “harmless”, only during really cold winters they will get fed , but in short , it is their duty to restore the nature/plants in this area.
I am not allowed to take my bordercollie behind the fence , but they know him very well and always come over to have a little nose to nose, lol
He just thinks they are masife sheep probably 😀

Heel mooi. I have a cousin who lives in Driebergen, not too far away from you I think. I have visited the area a few times. You live in a beautiful part of Nederland. Regards Peet

Thank you Peet 🙂 And yes Driebergen is only 20 minutes away and this area stretches even out through there so could easily 😉 walk to there..It is a great part of holland indead with so much historywhich go back a lot of years.A lot of painters used our sceneries in tbe early early days already.
If you check my post Waistland and Who remembers color then you will probably recognize the picture 😉

There’s a lone horse in this picture but i don’t see ‘lonely’ in its eye. I see something of hope, if anything. Great picture.
