The song was written for a rock opera called Lifehouse, which takes place in the future where thereâs been a war that drove everyone from the city out into the country, and everyone is dependent on this virtual reality type of entertainment. In this world, a lot of teenagers run away from home, and theyâre just these roaming gypsies out in the countryside

Aloft here in my tower,
